Inuyasha:

I woke up with a start. I'd been sleeping... when had I fallen asleep...? "Crap! I have to keep going, I have to get back to them..." I dragged myself to a sitting position, ignoring the dull pain that still lingered. I wasn't giving up now... I pulled myself up somehow and started walking, thinking of how great it would be when I was just back with the group, my friends...

And there was no denying it, they were my friends... when I had established them as such I'll never know. But in fact, they were closer than friends; they cared about me, and I would do anything to protect any of them... and I wasn't going to let them down any time soon... I'd be back.

I walked for a while longer, and didn't even notice when I couldn't feel my legs anymore. I was so focused on my goal that when I saw a moving object further in the distance, I ignored it for a bit... but it was steadily getting closer... I saw black hair... it began to take form... could it be?? It was!

Kagome:

"Inuyasha!" I screamed, suddenly realizing that the weaving and limping figure in the distance was him. "Ka... K... Kagome..." Suddenly, he collapsed! "NO! Inuyasha!" I ran to him, as fast as I possibly could, my legs screaming for release, but I gave them none. "Inuyasha, no, no please..." I picked him up, laid his head in my lap. "Don't die... not again..."

"Geez... woman... will you lay off..." He muttered, but made no effort to crawl out of my lap, or anything. "Aw, shut up." I whispered, eyes filling with tears again. Obviously, being Inuyasha... he noticed. "H-hey... no crying." "Okay. No crying." I repeated. "Hypocrite." He murmured, and reached up to wipe a few tears from my face. I smiled. "Sure. Whatever you say."

Inuyasha:

I smiled weakly. "Hm. We need to get back to the others, right?" "I don't know, that's a pretty rough trail... maybe we should wait a while?" I knew we were both thinking it; Kagome could go back and get the others; but I didn't want her to go. And apparently, she didn't want to go either, because she stayed put and didn't say a word.

Suddenly, she gasped. "What?" I grumbled, looking around. "Y...your wound... it looks painful... you're in pain..." Great. She had just stopped crying, and now she had started again. "Look, Kagome--" "It's all my fault..." I sighed, ticked off a bit. "It it NOT your fault. I chose to jump in the way, didn't I?" "Well if I hadn't been standing over by the cliff--" "Look, it's just not your fault, alright!?" To my surprise, Kagome nodded silently, not in the least bit upset at my anger. "If you say so... thanks." I nodded. "We have to get back eventually though, right?" Kagome shrugged. "Yes, but--" "Then lets get busy." I muttered, gritting my teeth.
